Castle Chronicles

time is slipping by, yet c seems to accomplish more these days than us older folks.  she's now moving along on two feet a good portion of the time.  she still likes to hold on to furniture, us, and toys with wheels. c still likes to try to be helpful.  dishwashers and dryers are quite exciting.  she's slightly more helpful with the dryer than the dishwasher.

sledding was a bit of a bust.  one friend sprained an ankle.  2 sleds broke.  c was scared crazy.  a couple toddlers flipped out after getting snow in their faces.  a 3 year old did not want to go home to take a nap. but j had fun. everyone enjoyed hot chocolate, a movie, games, and pizza afterward. we ended up with a wild, crazy baby in the evening (3 nights in a row). little c practiced taking some more steps, and a few got caught on tape today during one of her weekly play dates.  we tried to take c on a sled again down a smaller hill with just us.  she still freaked out.  she'd apparently rather crawl up and down the hill (a trick she has now mastered) or have us carry her while running.  we don't get it, but she definitely has a mind of her own.

it began snowing thursday night.       on friday, it snowed some more. c standing in friday's snow on saturday, it stopped snowing. j shoveled our driveway for 3 hours.  we went out for burgers with friends.  we managed to completely ignore the super bowl.  we relaxed, we played with c & h in the snow.  c likes it when h clears paths for her.  she doesn't like it when he bowls her over because he's not coordinated enough to control where he's going in the snow.  c likes sitting on top of snow piles and scooting the snow around.  she doesn't like it when she sinks and gets stuck.  she likes the freedom to move. speaking of moving, she took 2 very wobbly steps today (tuesday) all by herself.  and in case, we thought it might be a fluke, c repeated two more wobbly steps an hour later.  it looks like she'll fall into the average age for beginning to walk (13-15months).
